Some big TV news came down yesterday. Carson Daly will host NBC's rival to "American Idol." It's called "The Voice," and reality show producer Mark Burnett is behind it. This show will pair the contestants up with celebrity coaches, but those coaches haven't been picked yet. Carson says "The Voice" is all about finding raw talent and that this will be based strictly on vocal performance. Over at TNT, it was announced yesterday that J.R. will be returning to Southfork!! At least, Larry Hagman will be when he stars in the pilot of an updated version of the 80s TV show "Dallas." Sue Ellen and Bobby -- I mean, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy -- have signed on for the pilot episode, too. The new "Dallas" will focus on the Ewing children as they fight over the future of the family dynasty. Josh Henderson will play J.R.'s son, John Ross, and Jordana Brewster plays Elena -- the hot girl involved in a love triangle with John Ross and Pam and Bobby's adopted son, Christopher. Good stuff.
Gabriel Aubry is responding to Halle Berry's claim that he is an unfit father and that their 2-year-old daughter is not safe when she's with him. Halle made the accusation and used it as an excuse to pull out of the upcoming movie "New Year's Eve." But Gabriel's rep says, "While Gabriel is disappointed in Halle’s decision to falsely malign him publicly and for her own purposes, he refuses to be pulled into her dispute over a canceled film production." The rep says, "Gabriel also refuses to air their issues in the press as he believes this may ultimately harm their daughter." Sources say the couple had been working together on custody arrangements, but all that changed when Gabriel dated Kim Kardashian briefly before Christmas. Halle hit the roof with jealousy, telling Gabriel he had to choose between Kim and seeing their daughter. Gabriel broke things off with Kim, but that's when he realized Halle was going to constantly hold seeing his daughter over his head in order to control him. That's when he filed the paperwork to have himself legally declared as Nahla's father. And that's when he decided to go for custody of his daughter. Sources say that behind the scenes, Halle's the one who's not fit to be alone with their daughter, not Gabriel.
Kim Richards wasn't there yesterday when the rest of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast taped an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show. She refused to be part of the show because she's embarrassed that her drinking problem was revealed on the last episode of the season. She's upset that Bravo didn't edit that part out. But seriously?? Do you think you can be an alcoholic and NOT have something like that revealed when you sign up to do a reality show?? Kim's sister Kyle told Ellen that at this point, Kim's not sure she's going to come back for another season of the show. You can watch the whole interview on today's "Ellen."
Despite the fact that Camille won't give him a divorce, Kelsey Grammer has sent out wedding invitations and booked the ballroom at the Plaza Hotel -- yes, the one where Charlie Sheen went crazy nuts on a porn star -- for his wedding reception on February 25. Kelsey is going to court on February 7 to ask a judge to grant him a divorce, and he's counting on things to go his way in court so he will be free to marry Kayte Walsh in 3 weeks. But Camille has other plans...like stalling this divorce a little longer so she can get some more cash out of this deal.
Yesterday, LA police went to court to ask for a search warrant for Lindsay Lohan's house. They believed she stole an expensive necklace from a jewelry store in Venice Beach and told the judge they had video evidence of Lindsay wearing the stolen piece. Before the day was over, one of Lindsay's friends went to the police station and returned the necklace, which is now being held as evidence. It's up to the DA whether to pursue charges in the case. This is NOT good for Lindsay, who's still on probation and could face criminal charges for attacking that Betty Ford worker back in December.
